Why Participate?

____________________________

If you relate to any of these, then SEEING DIFFERENTLY may be for you:
  • You imagine your life moving in a different direction than it’s headed now; you feel a need for a shift of mind.
  • You feel somewhat stagnant like you have lost your spark.
  • You have done development work in the past, but daily activities have kept you from deep self-reflection work.
  • You are ready to commit to spending some time to becoming your best self.

Consider joining  the Seeing Differently community of people each working to enhance resiliency, inner strength, strategic thinking and collaboration.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?

_____________________________

The cohort will receive fellowships. There will be an application process resulting in a diverse cohort of 12-16 people from various backgrounds:
  •  seasoned leaders
  • current students
  • alumni of the Lockheed Martin Leadership Institute / Lilly Leadership Institute
  • higher education leaders
Individuals that participate are curious and have the courage and confidence to “go beyond” when they have already been successful. The program is limited because cohort members are those special people who make a commitment to continue to evolve and meaningfully deploy their best selves, to embrace change, and to venture outside their comfort zones.

Participation Expectations

_____________________________

  1.  Fellows are expected to be active participants and collaborators within the SEEING DIFFERENTLY community. Fellows are encouraged and expected to build and nurture community with other fellows as well.
  2. Fellows should seek opportunities beyond class time to get to know, share wisdom, and work with one another. All fellows serve as ambassadors for Insight Power. The role of ambassador may take many forms, including; informal conversations with peers and faculty; interacting with students alumni; and representing our program in other ways such as social media. We encourage you to share your experience.
  3. Part of the responsibility of fellows will be to live the learnings, continue to develop themselves, and to share their learnings at work and at home.

HOW IS IT DIFFERENT?

____________________________

Seeing Differently is non-traditional—our work is about development not teaching. There are no tests, no grades, NO ONE SIZE FITS ALL. We go beyond accumulating domain knowledge, competencies, and skills. Our work is much more of an “unleashing" than a fixed educational process. We do not use just one fixed curriculum, assessment, or leadership philosophy. It is transformational, not transactional.

The program is specifically designed to explore ways to open our minds to new ways of thinking, to acknowledge mindtraps and saboteurs, to create a space and time for evolving— all in a flexible, collaborative and challenging way.

Transforming oneself is a metamorphosis. It is an awakening from stagnation. Deep change isn’t for the faint of heart and has no short cuts or easy answers. It takes time for struggles and renewal. We believe in intense personal development and building capacity to turn toward discomfort and uncertainty. Each person has a different purpose and path and therefore tailored learning is crucial.

We embrace a coaching culture and person-centered learning
  •  Self-knowledge and reflection
  • Work and life integration
  • Teaching as well as learning
  • Unlearning—the letting go of previous learnings in order to open ourselves to new possibilities

What are people saying?

Seeing Differently

The SEEING DIFFERENTLY journey provides a safe place to regain energy and focus, look at trouble areas like bias and saboteurs, recapture a sense of purpose, develop resilience, and generate an intentional action plan focused on each individual's goals. The world needs open-minded, courageous people who embody inclusiveness and welcome change. The best way to develop outstanding leaders for the future is to strengthen the individual; leaders must be strong deep within to face the pressures of change. Yet we are busy juggling multiple and conflicting roles at work and at home. We are often guilty of ignoring investments in our own renewal and revitalization. The program is designed to build on the previous experience and knowledge of a diverse cohort of people interested in becoming better versions of themselves. In addition to working on their own transformation, participants will learn from one another in a safe, thought-provoking, co-creation environment.
